Milolii Beach

Milolii Beach

Milolii Beach is a remote beach on Kauai’s Na Pali Coast that is a favorite for kayakers, campers and snorkelers. The beach is accessible by boat only (there is a channel through the reef for beach landings).

Camping is allowed during the summer months and permits are required to stay overnight. Day landings are allowed during the summer between May 15th and September 7th without a permit. Several Kauai kayak tour companies, including Na Pali Kayak, offer day trips along the Na Pali Coast with a lunchtime stop at Milolii. Those wishing to camp overnight should coordinate with a Na Pali kayak tour company. You can accompany a kayak day trip to the beach and stay at the beach when the rest of the party leaves after lunch, then rejoin a day trip the next day or several days later.

Facilities at the beach include covered picnic areas, campsites, a primitive public bathroom and cold showers.

A hike to the back of Milolii Valley takes you through steep canyons and past several waterfalls (if not dry). There is an ancient Hawaiian temple (heiua) located near the stream. Please do not disturb the rocks in this area or at any other archeological sites in Milolii Valley (and Hawaii).

Milolii Beach can also seen on various Na Pali boat cruises. Some cruises with smaller boats, such as zodiac boats, venture closer to the beach. Protected by a natural reef, Milolii Beach is a superb area for snorkeling with some of the Na Pali cruises also offering snorkeling at the beach.

(Milolii Beach, Kauai should not be confused with Milolii, Hawaii, a community on the Big Island.)
