Have Cash On Hand On Kauai

The sign on the side of the ATM (photo above) at a car rental place near the Lihue Airport gives good advice – have cash on hand on your trip to Kauai. As the sign states, many of the smaller retail merchants (in Kauai) accept cash only, such as the Aloha Juice Bar in Hanalei. Kauai has a variety of fruit stands, shave ice stands, food trucks, souvenir stands, etc. that do not accept credit cards, only cash. And many remote locations on Kauai do not have an ATM nearby, so keep some cash on hand so that you can enjoy everything the island has to offer.
