The Hanapepe Valley Overlook (aka Hanapepe Valley Lookout) is located just past the 14-mile marker on Highway 50, about a half-mile from the town of Hanapepe (from the Lihue side). The overlook offers a beautiful view of Hanapepe Valley and provides the first taste of the canyon geography on the west side of the island. Be careful when visiting the overlook. A co-writer of National Lampoon’s Animal House fell thirty feet to his death from the overlook in 1980.
