Chances are if your travels take you to Poipu, Kauai you’ll end up sooner or later at The Shops at Kukuiula. The open-air shopping center boasts some of the island’s best shops and restaurants. Several surf shops, including Poipu Surf, Deja Vu and Crazy Shirts will get you ready for the beach. After the beach head over to Bubba Burgers for an island favorite teriyaki burger and milkshake. For fine dining there’s The Dolphin Restaurant, Merriman’s and the Eating House 1849. And for dessert you can’t miss Lappert’s Hawaii Ice Cream and Coffee. There are several art galleries as well, a Living Foods Market & Cafe and a Long’s Drugstore for all of your assorted needs.
If you haven’t been to Kauai in a while due to COVID or other circumstances, you will notice a few changes to The Shops at Kukuiula on your next visit. Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Merriman’s Pizza & Burgers and the Tortilla Republic have closed. Quiksilver is now branded as Deja Vu. Living Foods is under new ownership. And there’s a new shop, Ha’upu, for your outdoor gear needs.
The Shops at Kukuiula is located on the traffic circle near the entrance to Poipu Beach in the newish Kukuiula community.
