How to Determine if the Kalalau Trail is Open or Closed
There will be signs posted at the trail head at Ke’e Beach if the Kalalau Trail is closed. Often, the signs are the only official notification by the DLNR concerning the status of the trail. This is especially true for closures lasting only a few hours. If the closure is expected to be longer, or continues overnight, DLNR will usually announce the closure in a red box near the top of the DLNR website (example below).
Other places to check about the status of the Kalalau Trail include the County of Kauai Facebook Page and the Kalalau Trail Facebook Group.
